Privacy policy
Last updated 27 October 2026
The short version
- We only collect what we need to give you good occupational therapy.
- We keep your information secure and confidential.
- We share it only with people involved in your care, with your agreement, or when the law requires it.
- You can ask to see or correct your information at any time.
Who we are
Homefolks Health is a registered business name of Shelley L'Green, a registered occupational therapist (AHPRA OCC0001726181), ABN 95 566 003 531. In this policy, "we", "us" and "our" mean Homefolks Health.
We follow the Australian Privacy Principles in the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth) and the Health Privacy Principles in the Health Records and Information Privacy Act 2002 (NSW).
What we collect
- Your contact details, date of birth and the details of family members, carers or care partners you ask us to involve.
- Health and functional information: your goals, health conditions, medications where relevant, how you manage everyday tasks, and reports from other health professionals.
- Information about your home, such as measurements and photos or video taken during a visit or telehealth appointment, with your permission.
- Referral and funding details, such as your Support at Home provider and care partner, Medicare details for GP-referred care, or other funding.
- Information about smart home tech we recommend or help set up. We don't routinely access data from your devices. If a service needs that, we'll explain it and ask first.
- Billing and payment information.
How we collect it
Mostly from you directly, in person, by phone, email or video. With your agreement, we also receive information from people involved in your care: your GP or specialist, your Support at Home provider and care partner, and family members or carers. If you contact us through this website, we receive whatever you send us.
Why we use it
- To assess your needs and provide occupational therapy, including recommendations, prescriptions and follow-up.
- To write reports and keep your referrer and care team informed.
- To support funding applications and claims, including Support at Home and Medicare.
- To arrange equipment, home modifications or smart home tech with suppliers or builders, when you've agreed.
- To manage appointments, invoices and our records, and to meet our legal and professional obligations.
Who we share it with
Only with people who need it to support your care, such as your referring doctor, your Support at Home provider and care partner, equipment suppliers or builders, and family or carers you've asked us to involve. We share it otherwise only when the law requires or allows it, for example to lessen a serious threat to someone's safety. We never sell your information or use it for unrelated marketing.
How we store and protect it
Your records are kept in secure, password-protected practice management software and email accounts with multi-factor authentication. We limit access to people who need it. Paper notes, if any, are scanned and securely destroyed.
We keep health records for at least seven years after your last appointment (or, for anyone under 18, until they turn 25), as NSW law requires, then destroy them securely.
Technology we use, including AI
Some of the services we use, such as our practice software, email and video calling, are cloud-based. Some of these providers may store or process information outside Australia, including in the United States. We choose reputable providers with strong security and, where we can, ones that store health information in Australia.
With your consent, we may use an AI scribe to help write clinical notes from an appointment. Your occupational therapist checks every note before it's saved. You can say no at any time, and it won't affect your care. We don't use software to make decisions about you: all clinical recommendations are made by your occupational therapist.
Our website
This website doesn't use advertising trackers or ask you to create an account. Our web host may keep basic technical logs, such as your IP address, to keep the site secure. If you email or phone us, we use your details only to reply and to provide our services.
Accessing and correcting your information
You can ask to see your information or ask us to correct it at any time by emailing hello@homefolks.com.au. We'll respond within 30 days. In rare cases the law allows us to refuse access, and if so we'll explain why.
If something goes wrong
If a data breach is likely to cause you serious harm, we'll tell you and the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner, as the Notifiable Data Breaches scheme requires.
